A dynamic interstitials format to promote Pro features (and more)
I designed and developed the Interstitials format for a Codecademy Pro campaign. With my consumer app and design systems background, I developed a dynamic "commercials break" format that elegantly appeared at natural times in the learning journey. Codecademy Pro trials increased, and there was six-figure revenue growth from new subscriptions following the campaign.
After using the Interstitials design pattern for my own projects, I helped other teams use Interstitials in their own projects and experiments. Mobile app installs doubled when they were shown to learners wanting to keep a streak. A project to ask for a learner's goals during onboarding helped us get valuable motivations for almost every user on the app.

Bad first impressions
Decade-old legacy code
Buttons floating in space
Placeholders stuck in production
Every learner setting their goals
Showcasing the best projects
QR codes for mobile app downloads
Interstitials worthy of promoting Pro

The designs proved to be successful, and were rolled out to every learner on Codecademy
Interstitials helped the company collect learner goals: valuable information about each customer segment and their motivations
The Interstitials component became official, and other teams started making their own Interstitials with the LX team's help
